Drawer Locks – Safety 1st
The Drawer Locks by Safety 1st prevent children and animals from opening drawers to which they should not have any access.
What’s included in this package:
1x template, 7x catch, 7x latch, 28x screw, as you can see in the picture below:
Take the drawer out of closet frame, if possible, for easier installation. To remove an Ikea drawer from its frame, go to the outside bottom part of the drawer, enter your screwdriver in the slots on both sides, one by one. Press and push the drawer back. This is how:
Position the catch on the upper frame of the drawer with the curved edge facing out, like you can see on the picture below:
This is how in the end the catch and latch should come together:
Mark screw holes positions with pencil.
The screw diameter is 3mm
and the diameter of your drill-bit should be 2mm.
Pre-drill screw holes for catch 0.9cm deep. Be careful not to drill through the drawer.
Tip: Mark your drill-bit with a piece of electrical tape to the correct depth of 0.9cm, like you can see on the picture below:
Screw in catch manually using a cross-headed screwdriver. Put drawer back into cabinet. Do not fully tighten screws. Leave space between catch and cabinet frame for template use.
Remove adhesive cover from template:
The template fits exactly on the catch:
Slide template onto catch:
Close drawer until contact with adhesive is made. Open drawer and make sure template adhesive has stuck. You can see this in the video below:
Use pencil to mark through template:
Note latch screw locations. Remove template. Tighten cach screws now.
Pre-drill screw holes for latch now. Again 0.9cm deep:
Position latch slots centered over pre-drilled holes. Screw in latch by hand using a cross-headed screwdriver:
That’s all there is to it!
